Ghanaian international Antoine Semenyo has completed his transfer to Manchester City in a deal worth £65 million, joining the English champions from AFC Bournemouth in a major signing for the 2026 season.

The 26-year-old forward, known for his pace, power and versatility in attack, agreed personal terms with City and passed a medical before the move was officially confirmed on Tuesday. Semenyo becomes one of the most expensive Ghanaian-born players in Premier League history.

Manchester City manager has welcomed Semenyo to the squad, saying the Ghanaian star brings added dynamism to the club’s forward line as City look to remain competitive domestically and in Europe. The club said Semenyo will wear the No. 17 shirt.

Semenyo had been in impressive form at Bournemouth since his arrival at the club, attracting interest from several top English clubs and Europe’s elite with his goal-scoring ability and all-round attacking play. His performances for Bournemouth and the Ghana national team helped raise his profile ahead of a big-money move this winter.

The deal represents a significant investment for Manchester City, who are seeking new firepower after key departures and injuries in recent campaigns. Semenyo’s ability to play across the frontline — including on the wing or through the middle — was seen as a key factor in City’s pursuit.

In a statement, Semenyo said he was “thrilled” to be joining Manchester City and expressed excitement about competing for trophies at one of England’s top clubs. He thanked Bournemouth fans for their support and said the move represented a “new chapter” in his career.

The transfer fee is understood to include performance-linked add-ons, which could see the overall cost rise depending on Semenyo’s impact at City.

Bournemouth’s chairman also paid tribute to Semenyo, thanking him for his contribution to the club and wishing him well in his next chapter. The Cherries will benefit financially from the sale, allowing them to reinvest in their squad.

Semenyo has scored numerous important goals for Ghana, helping the Black Stars qualify for major tournaments and becoming one of his country’s key attacking players. His move to a club of Manchester City’s stature is expected to further enhance his profile on the world stage.

The Premier League champions will hope Semenyo can add goals and creativity as they chase domestic titles and push for European success, with supporters eagerly anticipating his debut in the sky-blue shirt.
