The Ministry of Health has confirmed that salaries for over 6,000 newly recruited nurses across Ghana have been successfully paid, part of a broader cohort of 13,500 nurses recruited nationwide. This payment marks a significant step in resolving outstanding employment matters for the new health professionals.
In a press release issued on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, the Ministry assured stakeholders that all remaining administrative issues for the other newly recruited nurses will be addressed promptly.
The statement also acknowledged the commitment of medical officers who have already reported to their designated duty stations. Those yet to report have been given an extended deadline of Friday, December 12, 2025, to ensure an equitable distribution of health personnel across the country.
The Ministry emphasized that these postings are not punitive but necessary to guarantee fair allocation of healthcare workers, particularly in underserved regions. Families of posted medical officers are encouraged to provide support to facilitate their adaptation to new work locations.
Furthermore, the Ministry appealed to Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives to offer incentives—including accommodation, transport support, and other amenities—to attract and retain health professionals in rural communities.
The Ministry reiterated that there will be no changes to the current postings and reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening Ghana’s health workforce while improving access to quality healthcare nationwide.
