GFA and Wales FA Launch Strategic Partnership to Boost Coach Development and Football Collaboration

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) and the Football Association of Wales (FAW) have announced a strategic partnership aimed at boosting coach development, sharing technical expertise, and fostering long-term collaboration between the two nations.

The agreement follows high-level discussions at the FAW headquarters in Hensol, where GFA President Kurt Okraku met with FAW Chief Executive Noel Mooney and Chief Football Officer Dr. David Adams.

A key feature of the partnership is a programme designed to elevate Ghana’s coaching standards by providing access to Wales’ renowned coach education pathway. Selected Ghanaian coaches from national development programmes will travel to Wales in 2026 to benefit from the advanced coaching system, strengthening grassroots football and improving player performance.

The two associations also agreed to explore opportunities for international fixtures between their youth and senior teams. With Ghana qualifying for the FIFA World Cup 2026, such matches will offer valuable experience, expose players to diverse football styles, and foster international collaboration.

The partnership emphasizes the importance of collaboration, knowledge exchange, and innovation in advancing national football programmes. Both the GFA and FAW are committed to nurturing young talent and creating opportunities that transcend borders, reinforcing a shared vision for football development through education and strategic alliances.
