Strengthening Police Operations

President John Mahama has recently made a significant contribution to the Ghana Police Service by handing over 100 Nissan pickup vehicles. This initiative is a critical part of a broader logistics support program designed to enhance operational capacity and public safety throughout the country.

Enhancing Patrol Coverage

The newly delivered vehicles will play a vital role in improving patrol coverage, reducing emergency response times, and extending police presence into remote and hard-to-reach areas. During the handover ceremony, President Mahama emphasized that these pickups are strictly operational. They are not intended for ceremonial use but rather to increase police mobility and ensure officer safety while on duty, especially during patrols and rapid responses to incidents.

A Commitment to Public Safety

In his remarks, President Mahama issued a stern warning to criminals targeting police officers, stating that such attacks, including any threats to their safety, will not be tolerated. He assured the public that law enforcement will diligently track down and deal with those involved in such criminal activities. To highlight the vehicles’ readiness for immediate deployment, President Mahama personally drove one of the newly commissioned pickups.

The Inspector-General of Police, Christian Tetteh Yohuno, expressed gratitude on behalf of the Ghana Police Service, confirming that the vehicles will be properly maintained and utilized effectively to enhance security and safeguard communities across Ghana.
