Parliament has donated GH₵100,000 to support the medical treatment of victims injured in the El-Wak Sports Stadium stampede during the 2025/2026 Ghana Armed Forces recruitment exercise.
The donation was made during a visit to the 37 Military Hospital, where Speaker of Parliament Rt. Hon. Alban S. K. Bagbin led a parliamentary delegation, including leaders and members of the Defence and Interior Committee, to express sympathy to the victims and their families.
Speaker Bagbin said the gesture represents Parliament’s compassion and solidarity with the affected individuals, emphasizing the legislature’s commitment to citizen welfare during moments of national tragedy.
“This is a token of Parliament’s support and care for the victims. Our hearts go out to the families who lost loved ones and to those still receiving treatment. Parliament stands with them,” the Speaker said.
The visit follows national mourning and government directives to suspend the ongoing recruitment exercise after six people lost their lives and several others sustained injuries during the stampede at the El-Wak Sports Stadium in Accra.
