NOBISCO bursar arrested for allegedly diverting food supplies

Police in Tamale have arrested the bursar of the Northern School of Business (NOBISCO), Fedelia Kudaariwo, for allegedly diverting food items intended for students to her private residence.

The arrest followed a tip-off from some concerned students who noticed irregular activities at the school’s store during the night. Acting on the information, local volunteers mounted surveillance and intercepted two school drivers — Alhassan Sulemana and Osman Asma — on Thursday, October 30. The pair were caught transporting nine bags of maize in the school’s minibus, allegedly under the bursar’s instructions.

According to the volunteers, upon questioning, the drivers claimed they were directed by the bursar to deliver the food items to her house. When the team proceeded to her residence, they reportedly found additional quantities of food items believed to have been taken from the school.

However, Ms. Kudaariwo was said to have fled before the volunteers arrived at her home but later turned herself in to the police. Investigations are currently ongoing to determine the extent of her involvement and whether others within the institution were complicit in the alleged diversion.

The incident has sparked outrage among students and staff, who have called for a full audit of the school’s food supply system to prevent future occurrences.
