In a significant turn of events, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has secured a massive endorsement from 63 out of 87 members of parliament from the New Patriotic Party (NPP). This strong show of support marks a pivotal moment ahead of the party’s presidential primaries, as a substantial bloc of parliamentary representation aligns with Bawumia’s candidacy.
During a media briefing held in Accra, Kwaku Ampratwum-Sarpong, the member of parliament for Mampong, articulated the rationale behind this overwhelming endorsement. He emphasized that Dr. Bawumia is viewed as the most experienced and viable candidate to lead the NPP into the 2028 general elections. The MPs praised Bawumia’s resilience, discipline, and his readiness to serve, stating that their support stems from deep conviction rather than sentiment.
Mr. Ampratwum-Sarpong asserted, “Today, over 63 members of parliament out of the 87 minority members in parliament stand together in unity and conviction to make this clarion call.” He expressed belief in Bawumia’s capability to unite the NPP and win the trust of the Ghanaian populace. The support for Bawumia symbolizes a push for renewal, breaking down barriers, and fostering a vision of hope for Ghana’s future. With such strong backing, Dr. Bawumia’s candidacy stands poised to navigate the party to success in the upcoming elections.
