Five Arrested in Human Trafficking Crackdown
In a significant move against human trafficking, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service has apprehended five suspects and rescued 57 Nigerian nationals. This operation took place at Adom Estates, Community 25, near Tema on October 22, 2025. Following extensive surveillance, this intelligence-led operation targeted a syndicate believed to be exploiting young Nigerians under false promises.

Trafficking Under False Pretenses
The suspects, identified as Joel Nosa, Collins Rotimi, Shadrack Lulu, Austin Amahuaro, and John Uloko, allegedly enticed their victims with offers of employment and educational opportunities in Ghana. However, upon their arrival, these young individuals, aged between 18 and 26, were coerced into participating in online romance scams and other cybercrime-related activities. The victims were misled and manipulated, shedding light on a broader human trafficking issue that affects many in the region.
Impact and Continued Efforts Against Human Trafficking
During the raid, authorities seized various digital devices, including 77 laptops and 38 mobile phones, which are believed to have facilitated these crimes. The CID confirmed that the rescued individuals are receiving necessary care and psychosocial support to help them recover from their traumatic experiences. Meanwhile, the suspects remain in police custody as investigations continue. Ghana’s commitment to combating human trafficking and cybercrime remains resolute, urging the public to be vigilant against dubious job offers transmitted online.
